Introducing Wally Hamm and René Hamm

Wally Hamm, a Prudential Carolina Real Estate agent for the past six years, was in retail sales for 12 years before he chose to take the plunge into the world of real estate. He and his wife, René, owned Hamm Furniture in Charleston until they both decided that selling homes provided a better future than furnishing them.

"For us to go from home furnishings to residential real estate was an easy step," Wally says. "We just went from one phase of the home to another." He likes meeting new people and enjoys the fact that each day brings a new challenge. "Each and every transaction is different," he says. "And I really like helping people sell their homes."

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Wally has his Broker's License and is an Accredited Buyer's Representative. He is a graduate of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors licensing school and has completed the Prudential Carolina Real Estate Dynamics classes. He is a member of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, the South Carolina Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and the Charleston Area Top Producers.

Wally sees a bright future for real estate in the Charleston area because he's confident that a strong local and regional economy, a moderate climate and beautiful beaches will continue to attract people from across the country.

Wally and René, who have been in the Charleston area since 1988, live in Drayton on the Ashley, across Highway 61 from Shadowmoss Plantation. They specialize in helping buyers and sellers with homes in the Shadowmoss nine neighborhoods, as well as their own neighborhood. They are members of St. Andrews Parrish United Methodist Church.

Wally is a board member and a past President of the Olde Charlestown Sertoma Club. He just completed 2 years as President of the Drayton Homeowners Association. He is also a past President and Treasurer of the Drayton Athletic Club, which runs the pool and boat landing. He is always looking for ways to help his community.

The Hamm's have one daughter, Cory, a graduate of West Ashley High School. She is currently a Senior at the University of South Carolina.

In Wally's spare time he enjoys boating, kayaking and scuba diving. He is also a licensed private pilot.

René Hamm says the most enjoyable part of the job she embraced six years ago is finding the perfect home for her clients and friends. She does not try to "sell" her clients on a home, instead she strives to find the home they really want.

"I like seeing people get what they want and knowing that we helped make that happen," she comments. "It's especially gratifying with first-time buyers because they get so excited."

René and her husband, Wally, owned Hamm Furniture in Charleston for 12 years before they both chose real estate as their new profession. Now they're both agents for Prudential Carolina, specializing in helping people to buy and sell homes in the nine neighborhoods that make up Shadowmoss Plantation.

René and Wally work as a team, with Rene' helping most of the buyers and Wally helping most of the sellers. They believe in being totally honest with their clients and in working hard to fulfill their needs.

Their enthusiasm for their work is contagious; they are already receiving a large number of referrals and a wealth of repeat business.

"We treat people the way we would want to be treated," René says. "We do a good job for our clients, and they appreciate us."

A graduate of the University of South Carolina and Spartanburg Methodist College, René is an Accredited Buyer's Representative and a graduate of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors licensing school. She has also completed the Prudential Carolina Real Estate Dynamics course. She is a member of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, the South Carolina Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

René and Wally, who have lived in the Charleston area since 1988, currently reside in Drayton on the Ashley, across Highway 61 from Shadowmoss Plantation. They are members of St. Andrews Parrish United Methodist Church, where René served for five years as a Youth Leader. She is serving her third year as Treasurer of The Olde Charleston Sertoma Club. She is also an active member of the Drayton Home Owners Association and the Drayton Garden Club.

The Hamm's have one daughter, Cory, a graduate of West Ashley High School. While there she played the flute and the piccolo in the Vanguard West Ashley High School Marching Band. The Hamm's really enjoyed helping with the Band Booster's Club and René served as Treasurer for two years. Cory now goes by her given name, Cora, and is a Senior at the University of South Carolina.

In René's spare time she enjoys painting watercolors, loving her five cats and one dog, doing yard work, and being on the water with family and friends. She also likes helping people preserve their pictures with Creative Memories and to look their best with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
